Dr. Jacopo Lenzi, how widespread is the lumbar disc hernia today?

Dr. Antonio Nardone when it is necessary to resort to surgery?

Dr. Emiliano Passacantilli, which techniques do you use for the removal of the hernia?
“With the advent of new technologies and the refinement of classical techniques, neurosurgical operations are now performed with a low rate of complications and mortality. Among the methods available, percutaneous (radiofrequency or LASER (PLDD)) are used for the treatment of disc protrusions: in this case a simple needle with local anesthesia is needed to solve the problem. With spinal endoscopy, which also allows the removal of hernias expelled and migrated through a skin incision of about 8 mm, the patient remains in the clinic one day and the results are truly extraordinary. Finally microsurgery is the most used technique in the world since it allows to remove any type of disc herniation under general anesthesia. Also in this case the skin incisions and the paravertebral muscles’ engagement are reduced to a minimum and the hospitalization is only two days “.
