Eduardo Chiacchio, from a player to a successful lawyer

0

An example for the many young people who wish to take the same path

For years his initiative, his passion and his very high level of skills are helping to write important pages of Italian sports justice: one particular that of lawyer Eduardo Chiacchio who, already as a professional C series player in business, since the 80 years arrives in the halls of the Sports Courts, collecting a series of judicial successes that have given him a certain visibility at the media level, as well as prestigious awards at national and international level.

Avv. Chiacchio, you were a footballer before becoming a lawyer. How was your passion for the legal profession born and in particular for sports justice?

I played soccer until the age of 29, wearing several teams of C-series teams. Being a professional player, before embarking on the legal profession, helped me a lot: already on the playing field I was an important player point of reference for my teammates. Although I love the world of football very much, my tenacity gave me the strength to complete my studies, obtaining a degree in law with honors from the Federico II University of Naples. It was March 18, 1981 and a few days later, due to a strange case of destiny, the famous law n. 91 which eliminated the sporting link between companies and professional athletes. It was an epochal turning point that marked my destiny as a lawyer in sports law.

You have spent with passion and determination for many companies and many players: what was the most difficult case to defend in the National Federal Court?

Certainly the Italian football scandal of the years 2011 and 2012, which involved many players, executives and companies of Serie A, Serie B and Lega Pro. One of the saddest pages of Italian football history. The main accusation against the suspects was that of criminal association aimed at fraud and sport fraud. In that line of investigation, among others, the Albinoleffe company of Bergamo defended, for which the Public Prosecutor asked for 27 points of penalization for nine contested sporting offenses: a request for a single penalty in the history of sporting justice. Thanks to my work (I succeeded in proving that the club had been damaged by the illegal behavior of its members who had implemented crime strategies to deliberately tear the potential), after three degrees of judgment, the penalty points were reduced to 4. Other very controversial case was that he saw at the center of the judicial chronicles the Football Naples and the goalkeeper Matteo Gianello, accused of attempted illicit in the match Sampdoria-Naples of 2010. With my intuition I managed to get, in the degree of appeal before the Court of Justice, the dereliction of the offense from a sporting offense violating the principles of sporting loyalty. Therefore, one of the most discussed events in the recent history of SSC Napoli ended positively, with the revocation of the penalization of two points in the ranking imposed by the Disciplinary.

Recently in Avellino they asked for his beatification, after the double acquittal from the charge of illegal sport charged to the top managers of the irpino club and with the total rejection of the request for immediate relegation formulated in a trial by the Federal Prosecutor. As a successful lawyer, what would you advise young people who wish to pursue their own profession?

To pursue their dreams with audacity and determination, not to give up at the first difficulties and to believe in their abilities. Having been fortunate to achieve extraordinary goals, I would like to be a stimulus and an example for the many young people who mistakenly believe that success is the exclusive prerogative of certain powers. It is not so. In life there are no unattainable goals or goals too ambitious: anyone can reach the summit, scoring the goal of victory. The secret is to fight firmly, exceeding your limits and never giving up because, wanting to use a metaphor, a real winner always wants the ball when the game is on the line.

Interview with the founder of S.M.A. SRL, a leading company in the provision of medical services, and one of the leading experts in the field of health related to work

“The right to health in the workplace must be adequately protected by adopting all the appropriate measures to prevent accidents and thus avoid the risks for the health of workers”, says Prof. Sergio Tiberti, occupational physician, academic epidemiology at the Department of Applied Clinical and Biotechnological Sciences at the University of L’Aquila and founder of SMA SRL. He does not mince the Professor in dealing with one of the most relevant topics of his long professional experience: that of the correlation between health and safety in work activities.

It is no coincidence that its numerous publications – more than 150 – have allowed the country to make significant steps forward, drawing public attention to the connections between environmental risks and health. “My studies on” high frequencies “- says the greatest environmental hygiene expert who since childhood dreamed of caring for people, especially those less well-off, unable to afford proper care -” set out to look for a cause-effect relationship between electromagnetic fields and damage to human health.

In fact, I believe that science should launch justified alarms, the result of effective feedback in scientific research: only in this way can research be financed! “. Also known for his battles on legality and transparency, in L’Aquila he made many armchairs shake. “I have struggled a lot to bring back the law in the university,” he admits with genuine sincerity, “and, precisely for this reason, today more than ever I feel the need to support transparency in every possible occasion”.

Safety at the workplace is not optional

It is boom for assisted fertilization

In recent years, couples who use MAP to have a child have increased. Dr. Galliano, director of the only IVI center in Italy, is present in Rome

According to the most updated data of the National Registry of Medically Assisted Reproduction, in 2015 over 74 thousand couples resorted to assisted fertilization, compared to 69 thousand in 2010. This shows an increase in the number of people who in recent years have turned to the MAP for crown the desire to have a child. The Valencian Infertility Institute (IVI) is the largest assisted reproduction group in the world, with over 70 clinics in 13 countries, and is also present in Rome since 2015. Dr. Daniela Galliano is the Director of the IVI Center in Italy.

Dr. Galliano, why do more couples turn to assisted fertilization?

Infertility is a growing phenomenon, involving around 15% of couples today. Surely one of the most important factors concerns the advanced age of the search for the first child, but also incorrect habits such as the use of drugs, smoking and alcohol abuse affect fertility. Factors such as excessive thinness, obesity, sexual infections and diseases such as endometriosis can also cause an impossibility to conceive a child naturally.

What can be done if a possible infertility is suspected?

In IVI, a specialized team analyzes the case of each patient in a personalized manner. It is important to carry out an analysis of the clinical history of both members of the couple, to understand where the problem of infertility comes from. Following the evaluation of the results of specific examinations, the same specialist will advise the most appropriate treatment to follow.

What are the MAP treatments you can undergo?

At IVI centres all the medically assisted reproductive treatments available are currently available: artificial insemination, oocyte vitrification, in vitro fertilization both homologous and heterologous with conventional technique and ICSI, availing also of the most advanced technology such as Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis ( DGP), EmbryoScope®, MAC, Nace and Nace Plus. In Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (DGP) IVI was a pioneer. This technique consists in diagnosing genetic and chromosomal diseases in the embryo stage, therefore before implanting in the maternal uterus, thus avoiding that the unborn is affected by genetic diseases that can be diagnosed. Thanks to all this, 9 out of 10 couples who have turned to IVI for infertility problems have reached their goal. In addition, IVI has recently launched the new IVI Baby program, a concept that was created with the aim of offering patients the peace and security of seeing their baby born. With IVI Baby, if pregnancy does not end with the birth of a child, IVI will proceed to return the amount spent.

Casa di Cura San Michele: an excellence in the national health scene

The new frontiers of minimally invasive surgery …

Latest generation technologies and high-specialty services and assistance complexities: these are the distinctive features of the San Michele Nursing Home, an excellence in the national healthcare scene. In addition, sixty years of life, the health structure of Maddaloni has invested heavily in technological innovation, becoming one of the most virtuous centers in Italy, thanks to the modern diagnostic equipment and the high skills of a high-level medical staff, involved in interventions increasingly minimally invasive. It is no coincidence that the President, Dr. Crescenzo Barletta, focuses on the promotion and management of increasingly high-complexity care services, within specific operational realities, making the centrality of the person the founding value of the Clinic.

Dr. Barletta, in recent years minimally invasive surgery has been applied with excellent clinical results in all medical branches. What goals have you achieved in the cardiac surgery field?

The line drawn in recent years is to practice in a routine way the mini-invasive techniques, which through small cuts compared to the complete opening of the sternal bone, allow to perform aortocoronary by-pass, replacements and repairs of the heart valves, removal of heart tumors, repair of congenital defects, aneurysms of the aorta and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. This type of approach allows to reduce the surgical traumatism allowing a rapid postoperative recovery, the reduction of pain and some complications related to the intervention such as infections and the need for transfusion, and to be able to operate patients who were previously condemned to die without treatment. The project was made possible by the collaboration of expert tutors, all prominent figures in mini-invasive cardiac surgery.

Beyond the cutting-edge techniques, are technological innovations also the basis of such flattering results?

The most advanced quality standards can only be achieved with an efficient and constantly evolving health organization combined with investments in high technology. On 26 October 2015, in the presence of Governor De Luca, the first hybrid hall in Southern Italy was inaugurated with Siemens technology. It is a multifunctional operating room, which allows to perform advanced cardiovascular procedures and traditional surgery and / or minimally invasive surgery with haemodynamic methods within the same operating environment, ensuring the patient the greatest possible safety. Also in 2015, for the first time in the Center-South and for the second time in Italy, another revolutionary equipment was inaugurated: “Rhythmia” by Boston Scientific. This is an extremely innovative instrumentation that has opened new avenues for the treatment of complex arrhythmias, allowing 3D cardiac mapping with parameters of visualization and definition of images never achieved before. Recently, thanks to the 3D Rhythmia mapping system, for the first time in Central and Southern Italy, our electrophysiology and electrostimulation service coordinator, dr. Antonio De Simone, has successfully performed the treatment of the “Brugada Syndrome”, a disease that alters the heart rhythm, causing palpitations, syncope, ventricular arrhythmias and, in the most serious cases, cardiac arrest. This new technique of ablation (coagulation necrosis by radiofrequency) is practiced by few centers in the world.

Activities of high complexity and minimally invasive techniques are also present in other departments. What are the benefits for patients?

The significant clinical and aesthetic benefits are mainly linked to the minor surgical trauma, to a faster and less painful post-operative course, to a lower incidence of infectious complications, and ultimately to a faster reintegration into the social and working life of the patient. My son Virgilio, head of the department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, is one of the few, in Italy, to practice the front access route in prosthetic hip surgery (Daa). This technique, which respects the anatomical integrity of the treated tissues, is decidedly less traumatic for the patient. For years, the surgeons of the San Michele Clinic, coordinated by dr. Lucio Delli Veneri, head of the General Surgery Operating Unit, uses “gentle” surgery for the treatment of various diseases, such as those concerning the gallbladder and biliary tract, achalasia, hiatal hernia, thyroid, cancer of the stomach and that of the colon.

Always with a view to increasing less invasive techniques compared to standard surgical methods in the treatment of cancer, and not only that, in 2017 we inaugurated an operating room dedicated to Interventional Radiology. Contact person is the dr. Renato Regine, thanks to the close collaboration with the departments of the surgical group, has successfully treated pulmonary, hepatic and renal metastases, embolized uterine myomas and other types of neoplasia, without surgical cuts and with increasingly personalized therapeutic approaches.

Technology at the service of the patient …

Digital technologies are rapidly emerging even in modern dentistry: computerized procedures, latest-generation materials and increasingly accurate diagnostic tools are opening the way to new therapeutic horizons, thanks to which patients can achieve truly extraordinary results. New and sophisticated tools such as intra / extraoral scanners, Cone Beam Computed Tomography (Cbct), Cad-Cam software and innovative manufacturing techniques (3D printing and stereolithography) are radically changing the way patients are treated, and their perception of interventional methods, always less aggressive and invasive. To illustrate the latest frontiers of modern dentistry is the dott. Maurizio Macrì, well known dentist in Naples, specialized in complex prosthetic rehabilitations in all-ceramic, implanta-prosthesis, gnathology and in prevention of oral cancer with the use of a modern cytology sampling method for scarifying the area to be examined. With the Department of Structures of the University of Naples, through a research convention, he is planning to study innovative systems of mechanical optimization to customize prosthetic implants and increase their resistance, also taking advantage of the most modern 3D printing techniques.

Dr. Macrì, what technologies can the patient benefit from today?

In recent years there has been an extraordinary spread of digital technologies and clinicians have therefore had to change their way of thinking and working. In this revolutionary scenario, the most advanced dental practices will use a 3D printer in their working routine, thanks to which it will be possible to make prosthetic restorations, much more quickly and efficiently than traditional methods. The 3D scan of the dental arches allows, in fact, to acquire perfect images and to make a prosthesis, a implant or a bone graft of biocompatible material “personalized” according to the individual patient, directly in the studio and in a short time. The scans, saved in a real “database”, will allow the professional to preserve over time all the information of each patient’s dental arches, allowing him to realize fixed prosthetic restorations that are completely identical to the natural teeth of each individual person. The step with the technology cannot however be disconnected from the one with the Science: for this reason, thanks to the precious collaboration with the prof. Massimiliano Fraldi (professor of mechanical engineering biological fabrics at the University of Naples Federico II) I started an innovative research project that integrates 3D printing and optimal design of the implants and of the mechanical properties of the materials for dentistry.

Speaking of “revolution” one cannot speak of the new materials used today?

Thanks to increasingly evolved materials (zirconia, integral ceramics, etc.), which guarantee an always better match with the appearance and the original color of natural teeth, it is possible to realize prosthetic restorations that are absolutely biocompatible and integrable, such as to allow a success in long-term and able to minimize the risk of a possible rejection.

Let’s talk about implant surgery: nowadays are more and more minimally invasive techniques spreading?

Absolutely yes. The modern implant surgery, which allows the restoration of a correct masticatory function, aims to ensure the patient, who is facing a prosthetic operation, the least possible pain and the best post-operative course. The modern minimally invasive surgical techniques, which are decidedly not very aggressive, require that for the positioning of the implants it is not even necessary to open a surgical flap (flapless) with the scalpel, thereby minimizing the consequent sutures. These techniques offer numerous advantages: they minimize post-operative pain and the risk of intra and post-operative bleeding and allow the patient the immediate recovery of mouth function and daily and work activities. Also from this point of view, therefore, the continuous progress of science and techniques allows to increase the comfort of the patient. In the case of guided surgery through 3D software, for example, the incisions, if necessary, are done with millimetre precision, and then insert the dental implants in titanium or zirconia. In conclusion, today the dentist seeks personalized and effective care and treatment courses that have the least possible impact from a physical and psychological point of view, increasing comfort and safety in the operating room. In a constantly changing scenario, I believe that the most attentive professionals have the duty to intercept the most advanced requests of Research and to respond enthusiastically to the challenges posed by innovation, to contribute to the well-being of all and to play the role of leading the way dentistry has always played in medicine, especially for the applications of new materials and technologies.

The latest treatments for inguinal hernia

0

The doctor Sammartino, Surgeon General at the Salvator Mundi International Hospital shows us the news in the care.

Dr. Sammartino, how is inguinal hernia treated today?

The treatment of inguinal hernia is surgical, there are no drugs able to reverse this pathology. The operation is a standardized procedure, which involves the use of prostheses to strengthen the abdominal wall, thus reducing the risk of recurrence.

What kind of prosthesis are used and what techniques do they use to implant them?

There are both reabsorbable and non-resorbable prostheses. The choice depends on the age of the patient, the type of activity performed and the size of the hernia. The intervention can be performed either with traditional technique, under local anesthesia, with an incision of about 6-8 cm at the level of the inguinal region, or with laparoscopic technique, under general anesthesia through three 1 cm incisions on the abdominal wall. The surgery lasts from 30 to 45 minutes and is performed in day hospital. The discharge takes place after a few hours and the patient can resume daily activities after 2 or 3 days.

The hernia of the sports patient requires special treatment?

Obviously yes, because they are often subjects that practice sport at a competitive level and which requires a high physical effort. These patients should be guaranteed an ultra-specialist and multidisciplinary treatment both before and after surgery. The Hernia Center of Salvator Mundi International Hospital was created to meet the needs of patients with abdominal wall hernias and was designed to provide multi-specialist assistance, from diagnosis to rehabilitation.

The new frontiers of surgery at Sant’Andrea Hospital

0

Doctor Perugia, from the Roman hospital, explains how he changes the treatment of hallux valgus, a widespread disease

In Italy, one in five people suffers from hallux valgus, an increasingly widespread pathology, especially in the female population. To illustrate the very latest frontiers in the treatment of this disease is Doctor and Professor Dario Perugia, Head of UO Foot Surgery at the University Hospital Sant’Andrea in Rome.

How is this pathology treated that in some cases can be really invalidating?

In the initial phases the conservative approach may prove sufficient to attenuate the painful symptomatology and slow down its course. When the symptomatology becomes strongly disabling, it is necessary to intervene surgically. Today there are over 100 interventional techniques: the choice of the most appropriate method is referred to the specialist who, after having carried out an accurate clinical and radiographic evaluation, will use what he considers most appropriate for each individual patient. In other words, “the foot must not adapt to the surgeon’s abilities, but the surgeon must adapt to the degree of deformity of the big toe”.

Percutaneous minimally invasive surgery is the one that offers greater benefits today. Why?

The surgery is performed in day surgery, under local anesthesia and with significantly reduced surgical times compared to open surgery. The correction of the deformity occurs through osteotomies performed without surgical incisions, through small cutaneous holes of a few millimeters. This significantly reduces post-operative pain and allows a faster return to the patient’s daily activities

Here are the tax and administrative facilities in the Special Economic Zones to help the development of the territory

With the publication in the Official Gazette of the Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers n. 12/2018, was approved the regulation for the establishment in the South of the so-called Special Economic Zones, areas of the South connected to port areas, in which companies will benefit from special incentives aimed at creating the most profitable conditions for the development of territory. “Within these geographically demarcated areas, established to attract greater foreign investment and to boost the competitiveness of the ports of the southern regions, more liberal economic laws apply than those generally present in the country in which they are established”, explains the adv. Marco Esposito, specialized in customs legislation, owner of the prestigious law firm of the same name, with offices in Salerno, Naples and Rome.

Attorney Esposito, can you summarize the benefits expected for companies located within the called Special Economic Zones?

The benefits relate to the access to a tax credit for maxi investments up to 50 million (normally it is 15 million for large companies), the halving of the time for authorizations and the reduction of administrative burdens and instructors. Who governs the SEZ can also ask the executive to exercise substitutive power.

What are the conditions for the recognition of such facilities?

Companies must keep the assets in the Special Economic Zones for at least five years after the completion of the investment subject to the benefits, under penalty of revocation of the benefits granted and enjoyed and must not be liquidated.

In the first 18 months of life, we received about 7,000 requests for services and assisted over 300 customers in the field of “web reputation”.
What are your strengths compared to competitors?
The activities of “web reputation” and of reputational engineering on search engines are certainly our strong point compared to the few competitors on the market. Customers rely on Cyber Lex to permanently protect their digital identity. The problem is no longer “erase a news” or “remove personal data from the internet”: important people and companies of a certain level need a strategic partner that keeps digital identity under surveillance and prevents problems from arising. of reputational character. Art. 17 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, which came into force on May 25, establishes the inalienable right to cancel your data from search engines, if the relevance of such results is less important than the person’s right to privacy; compared to the previous legislation, it gives greater prominence to the obsolescence of the web page and to the definition of the purpose for which a personal data has been processed.
