Some companies grow alongside the territories where they are founded. They are not simply businesses, but organizations that become part of the economic and social history of a community. Galliera Costruzioni S.r.l., based in Bondeno, in the province of Ferrara, belongs to this category. With more than a century of experience in the construction industry, the company has become one of the most significant private enterprises in the area, earning recognition at the national level for the strength and consistency of its entrepreneurial journey. The company’s story is one of a family tradition spanning generations, always grounded in values such as professionalism, reliability, and a strong commitment to the social environment in which it operates. Over the years, this approach has enabled the company to strengthen its position in the construction sector while progressively expanding its scope of activities. Today, its core operations include civil, industrial, and agricultural construction projects, building renovations, road reconstruction, sewer maintenance, and river morphology and restoration works. Discussing the company’s evolution is CEO Marco Galliera, who reflects on the values and challenges of a business that has successfully navigated more than a century of history.

Mr. Galliera, a company with more than one hundred years of history represents a remarkable legacy. What does it mean today to lead a business like Galliera Costruzioni?
Leading a company with such a long history means being fully aware of the responsibility that comes with that legacy. Every generation must preserve what has been built in the past while also projecting it into the future. For us, this means remaining firmly rooted in our founding values—professionalism, reliability, and commitment to the local area—while interpreting a sector that has changed profoundly in recent years. Today, construction requires advanced technical expertise, strong organizational capabilities, and a much broader strategic vision than in the past.
What has been the key to the company’s growth over time?
Continuity combined with the ability to evolve. Over the years, we have taken on increasingly complex and diversified projects, ranging from civil construction to infrastructure works. This has been possible thanks to a prudent entrepreneurial approach that remains open to innovation, supported by continuous investments in work quality, employee training, and organizational development, without ever losing our connection to the territory where we originated.
Galliera Costruzioni operates in both the public and private sectors. What are the main challenges of maintaining this balance?
These are two very different environments. The public sector requires regulatory rigor, transparency, and strong administrative management skills, while the private sector demands rapid decision-making, flexibility, and tailored project solutions. Our challenge is to integrate these approaches while consistently maintaining high standards of quality and reliability. This balance has been achieved through experience, a strong work culture, and well-established organizational methodologies.
What role do innovation and safety play in a construction company today?
They are fundamental aspects. Innovation is not limited to technologies or materials; it also involves process organization and construction site management. At the same time, safety is a non-negotiable value. It means protecting the people who work with us and ensuring the quality of the projects we deliver. The S.O.A. certification we hold is a testament to our commitment to maintaining high standards of technical expertise and reliability.
Your company is deeply involved in the social life of the local community. How important is this aspect?
It is essential. A company cannot limit itself to its economic role. It must also take responsibility toward the community in which it operates. Over the years, we have supported sports associations, cultural organizations, and social initiatives because we believe that economic and social development should progress together. It is our way of giving back to the community a part of what we have received.
Looking ahead, what direction do you see for the construction industry?
The sector is undergoing a significant transformation. Issues such as environmental sustainability, technological innovation, and efficient resource management have become central priorities. The challenge for a company like ours is to continue growing while maintaining the right balance between consolidated experience and innovation, navigating increasing regulatory complexity, and participating in infrastructure projects at both regional and national levels. The future will reward companies capable of combining technical expertise, organizational strength, and a long-term entrepreneurial vision.
