The new beauty trend conquers an increasing number of women

Nowadays an increasing number of women decide to resort to permanent makeup for a need for aesthetics mixed with practicality: with this technique, in fact, we go to design and then tattoo on the face the basis of a daily make up, using biocompatible pigments to be inserted under the skin so that the result is durable over time. “The only imperative is, of course, to turn to expert hands, which guarantee the achievement of satisfactory results and reduce the risk of possible contraindications”, Serena Toscano, owner of the prestigious Studio Immagine di Roma, strongly asserts.

Serena Toscano, what does permanent makeup consist of?

Also known by the name of micro pigmentation, dermo pigmentation or semi-permanent tattoo, it is a procedure applied in the aesthetic field to hide small imperfections or asymmetries of the face, especially to define the shape of eyebrows, eyes and lips. The procedure involves the use of a device called a dermograph, able to make very small incisions under the skin, with extreme rapidity and without particular pain.

What is the difference between tattooing and permanent makeup?

The treatment, although it seems similar, is actually different in the application techniques, in the duration of the pigmentation and in the composition of the pigment. The colours used are exclusively bioabsorbable, tested and certified according to European standards. The duration of the trick is also limited in time, since the professional operator uses less stable colours, eliminable through the immune defenses of the individual (power of phagocytosis). This is the reason why the duration of the treatment is absolutely subjective, being closely linked both to the cell turnover and to the depth of the incisions.

She is a renowned professional in her field. The key to its success?

Experience, professionalism and ability to meet the needs of every single customer, each with his own personality, with his own different way of expressing femininity. But not only. Taking advantage of the precious collaboration of two experts in the field, Roberta Valentini and Cecilia Mezzanino, for years I offer personalized treatments of undisputed quality, establishing with my clients a relationship of trust, based on moral and intellectual honesty; an innate talent that drives me to direct my customers always to the right choice, with discretion and experience, without ever imposing my ideas. Over the last few years, Studio Immagine has become an important point of reference in the regional scene, also a leader in the training of other operators and in the research of important innovations to ensure safe products and more and more advanced execution techniques.

How was your passion for this work born?

My career path was born about 10 years ago, when my mother underwent a permanent make-up treatment, but unskilled operators mistaken her form and colour. I still remember his desperation to look in the mirror. When I was at home I often happened to stop behind the bathroom door and listen to her crying; despite my young age, I clearly perceived her difficulty in accepting a face that she no longer recognized. And so I decided to do something to restore the joy of living. So I began to attend the best professional academies: the more I trained, the more I wanted to increase my know-how. And I realized it to the point that I already started teaching at a regional school and at the prestigious Orsini & Belfatto professional academy, with whom I still work today. Along my professional path I managed to find a way to solve my mother’s problem, giving her her adorable smile back. Since then my working philosophy is to do everything possible to make my customers happy.

You eight years ago decided to devote yourself to vocational training, why?

Over time I have gained the awareness of having a particular predisposition to teaching. So I decided to become an important reference point for those who want to establish themselves in a sector where, due to high competitiveness, professionalism and specific skills are increasingly required. An expert and competent teacher must know how to transmit to his students the importance of some basic criteria, first of all the essential aesthetic sense – permanent makeup does not have to distort the features of the face but must exalt its most delicate beauty: the client looking at the mirror must see itself more beautiful, not different! My techniques, my skills and last but not least my passion for a profession that I love a lot, have trained many beauticians, girls who have come into play to find their own professional identity and that today, thanks to my highly qualified, have had their chance of success in life.
